The Score Course saw Andy Hill (WH) take the lead with 320 points followed by Daren Slater (GO) with 280 with Jeremy Fowler breathing down his neck with 270. Leading the field in the Line Course was Graeme Hill (WH) 21m 41s. Nicole Selin (GO) 28m 51s took second place followed closely by Mark Mueler accompanied by infant Hugo with a time of 29m 47s. After a week of heavy rains we were lucky to have top of the line running weather but our runners discovered that the water was lingering in several boggy patches and it was a lucky runner who crossed the weir at Caddies Creek with dry feet.

CECIL HILLS MetroLeague #1 - The Curtain Raiser The sound of shot from the Sydney International Shooting Centreat Cecil Hills did not put MetroLeague runners off making hard course decisions on the best way to navigate through the "sea" of long grass.
There was a big turnout for the first event on this new area. There were more competitors than team places. This meant a huge field of enter-on-the-day runners which included a special group from Southern Highlands that were being coached by Neville Fathers and other SHOO members. The hilly urban farmland with its mix of open and treed areas. rustic fences and some mowed vehicle tracks was a tough proposition for the earlier runners and challenging for those new to bush orienteering. The first starters had no option but create "elephant" tracks for later runners. A special appreciation goes to planner Steve Holloway, controller Janet Morris and organiser James McQuillan. This was James first as oganiser of a bush event. He set a high standard and will be in demand for future club events!
